Whether it's the doomscrolling, the commercialisation or the political shift, many people are tired of mainstream platforms like X, Facebook and Instagram. But what are the alternatives for communication professionals, and how do we build an alternative presence, build and reach an audience?
Join this workshop where we work with alternative and non-profit social media and communications platforms and strategies, and how to leverage them to reach and engage your audience. The workshop builds on the seminar Rethinking Social Media Platforms featuring four speakers (of which the course leader was one) in September 2025.
The workshop is presented by Media Evolution in collaboration with Inkonst – an independent venue in Malmö that presents innovative and contemporary culture that moves outside of the established, obvious and genre defined.
This course is suitable for creators and promoters of culture and creative expression, artists, venues and others who want to explore new and alternative platforms for audience development and community building.
Maia Kahlke Lorentzen is a Copenhagen based researcher, trainer and cyberwitch, working in the intersection of technology, digital culture and social justice.
