Explore Malmö’s urban soundscape and remix field recordings into immersive sonic stories during this hands-on sound workshop.

Join us for a workshop on the Sound of Malmö, Remixing the City, an immersive sound experience exploring the sonic identity of Malmö. Drawing from field recordings captured across the city, this hands-on session invites participants to creatively remix and manipulate urban sounds from bustling streets, train stations to hidden corners and build unique soundscapes that reflect Malmö's rhythm, noise, and character.

The workshop is led by Rasak Akorede – a creative technologist from Lagos, Nigeria that is currently in town for the Malmö Residency program.

Whether you're a sound artist, urban explorer, or just curious about audio storytelling, this workshop offers a space to experiment, collaborate, and reflect on how sound shapes our environment. No prior experience required just bring your curiosity and ears and if you have sound equipment, you can also bring it.

Context

Rasak Akorede is one of eight Residents in the Malmö Residency 2025 program. Malmö Residency 2025 is funded by Tillväxtverket (The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth) and the City of Malmö. It’s a collaboration between 70+ companies in Malmö, the City of Malmö, the Swedish Institute and Media Evolution.
