What happens when robots stop being isolated machines and start becoming part of a decentralized ecosystem?
In this lecture, Professor Eduardo Castello explores the convergence of robotics and blockchain technologies — a fusion that enables robots to collaborate, trade, and evolve trustlessly across networks.
Drawing from his research on distributed robotic systems, he will present a vision of a non-so-distant future where autonomous machines negotiate, cooperate, and create new forms of interaction with humanity.
Professor Castello leads the Cyber-Physical(CyPhy) Life research group at the School of Science and Technology, IE University. He holds a PhD degree in robotics engineering from Osaka University (Ishiguro Lab) and was a postdoctoral associate at the MIT Media Lab for over 5 years. In 2023 he was a speaker at The Conference.
The lecture is the first in a series on Foresight and Futures. Later in the week Simon Höher from Dark Matter Labs will be speaking, and there’s a seminar with Community Horizons.
This lecture is also a part of Learn, Create, Engage – a project that helps develop competence and strengthen people who work within the cultural and creative industries in Skåne, by offering free courses and much more. Funded by the European Social Fund.
