We’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of 040x040 with a compact, curated community gathering in Hamburg, September 3–4, 2026.
Think: bike-based city exploration, intimate conversations, and a picnic style “bring something to the table” spirit: questions, ideas, curiosity, humour. We’ll roam through the city by bike in good ol’ 040x040 fashion, and learn from each other as we gather new shared experiences.
This edition is purposefully small and focused: a way to reconnect the community, meet old and new people from both cities, and lay the groundwork for full 040x040 learning journeys in 2027.
Cross-cultural edge: Experience what happens in the “cracks” between Swedish and German work culture and take home new ways of collaborating.
Curated peers, no talk track: A tight-knit group from Hamburg and Malmö designed for real exchange, not presentations.
A reset in 36 hours: Change context, refuel creatively, return with fresh perspective. Relationships that last: Build cross-border connections that can turn into future collaborations (and set up 040x040 2027).
This is for people working with change, urban development, design, innovation, foresight, entrepreneurship, or are just interested in getting collaboration started between Malmö and Hamburg.
040x040 is an exploration of urban innovation between Hamburg and Malmö. Two vibrant cities sharing the same access code (sic!).
Through immersive learning journeys, the 040x040 community dives into the cracks between Swedish and German culture – exploring how we work, create and collaborate on an individual and organisational level.
It's small by design. You meet with everyone. It feels like a family quickly. It’s more about sharing and listening, than presenting.
