This closing is not an end but a start in stepping up our efforts

Bridging-Tomorrow-and-Today is the closing seminar of The Futures We Build, an initiative created to guide the built environment sector in Sweden towards a sustainable future, was held at Media Evolution.

Within the project, four interdisciplinary teams– Rehearsals, Beyond Blueprints, Now is the new tomorrow and Waves – were invited to create visions portraying futures in which the built environment sector has met its shared sustainability goals.

In this seminar the four envisioning teams share their visions and what they brought with them from the process. There's a introduction to the Brief capturing insights that emerged in workshops with multiple actors across the built environment sector in Sweden.

The seminar further included reflections on bridging future visions with present realities, by Kristina Gabrieli, Smart Built Environment, Embla Winge, LFM30 and Torben Klitgaard, BLOXHUB on how the sector needs to step up its transformation towards more sustainable impact.

Participants

Love di Marco (Rehearsals) reflected on how rehearsing alternative futures can shift perspectives and prepare the sector for change.

Vanessa Ware (Beyond Blueprints) shared learnings from her team’s work on imagining new frameworks for collaboration and design.

Gustav Magnusson and Johan Pitura (Now is the New Tomorrow) discussed experiments with futures-thinking as a tool to spark innovation and action.

Gustav Edén (Waves) offered insights into how shifting mindsets and practices can ripple through the sector to create long-term impact.

Moderator: Reeta Hafner (Project and Foresight Lead, Media Evolution). Reeta Hafner also presented insights from co-creative sessions where actors in the built environment sector reimagined how change can be driven together.

Reflections by: Torben Klitgaard (CEO, Bloxhub), Kristina Gabrielii (Head of Program, Smart Built Environment), Embla Winge (Chairperson, LFM30). Moderated by Petra Jenning (Smart Built Environment/Fojab).

Context

The lecture was organised by Media Evolution as part of The Futures We Build. The project is a strategic project within Smart Built Environment, one of Sweden’s 17 Strategic Innovation Programs, with funding from Vinnova (Sweden’s innovation agency), The Swedish Energy Agency and Formas (Swedish government research council for sustainable development). It is run by Media Evolution in collaboration with the Federation of Swedish Innovation Companies.
